New York Mets ace, Noah Syndergaard has had quite the offseason, appearing at multiple team events, solidifying himself as a face of the franchise.

In a radio interview for WOR 710 with Pete McCarthy, Syndergaard spoke on the Mets brining back his personal catcher, Rene Rivera.

“That’s huge, because he really helped me last year with his veteran leadership and the amount of knowledge that he has,” Syndergaard explained.

As Thor has struggled with runners on base, Rivera has helped to cut down some of that problem. It is also believed with the team’s hiring of new third-base coach and catching instructor Glenn Sherlock, that this will be a focus for the team going forward.

Incumbent catcher, Travis d’Arnaud has also struggled with throwing out runners as they had begun to run on him at will. This was a serious issue for the team in 2016 as seemingly many times a walk or single became an automatic man in scoring position with a stolen base.

Syndergaard also touched on just how good the Mets rotation is as other team’s continue to attempt to solidify their own. The Metropolitans are still considered to have one of the best, if not the best in the game today. Syndergaard has been outspoken in his thoughts on just how great this rotation is and rightfully so.

“Their ability is outstanding,” Syndergaard said. “We’re kind of like a tight-knit brotherhood ourselves. We’re all just rooting for one another.” (MLB.com)

The rotation, if healthy, is seemingly unrivaled, full of youth and power with the possibility of being near unstoppable. Could this be the season we finally get to see the fab five all at once?

As we are here in the holiday spirit, just a week before Christmas Eve, Thor knows what he would like for the holiday.

“A World Series,” Syndergaard said.
