Over his last two starts, Noah Syndergaard has begun to show us yet again the dominant pitcher he can be. This new string of exquisite pitching is coming at just the right time as the Mets attempt to make a run at a playoff spot.

It was a booming night for the Mets, defeating the Phillies by a score of 12-1. Syndergaard was dominant and efficient for his part, going seven strong innings. He allowed just two hits on the night while giving up one run. Thor walked two while striking out seven. Syndergaard has begun to look like the pitcher who dominated in the first half of the season yet again, he spoke of his second half struggles after Saturday’s victory.

“It was just more like a mental kind of blockage,” Syndergaard said. “Trying to think too far in advance during the game as opposed to getting out there and trying to win one pitch at a time.” (NY Post)

Syndergaard picked up the win, his 12th of the season, tying Bartolo Colon for the team lead. His ERA lowered just a tad more to an impressive 2.55 as his WHIP stands at 1.14. His overall record this season is 12-7. Over his last three starts, Syndergaard is 3-0 with a 1.31 ERA. Things seem to be clicking all around for the 2015 defending NL Champions.

“I feel like there’s a great atmosphere in the clubhouse,” Syndergaard said. “We’ve got a lot of energetic, veteran guys that are helping the young guys. Really grasping and buying into the program and just all pulling for one another.”

If the pitching continues to hold up and the offense continues to click on all cylinders, there is no telling the kind of run this team is capable of going on. Finally healthy, this team is playing the way we all knew they were capable of.
