During the seventh inning of Saturday night’s Mets vs. Phillies game, Noah Syndergaard was pitching with the bases loaded when he was drilled in the rib area with a line drive off the bat of Cesar Hernandez.

Syndergaard fell to the ground, and tried to recover by attempting a throw to first base but was unable to. He paced around the mound, but handed the ball off to pitching coach Dave Eiland and walked off the field.

Left-hander Jerry Blevins came on in immediate relief and struck out Jose Bautista to retire the side.

Syndergaard’s final line has him going 6.2 innings, yielding four runs on 12 hits, while walking five and striking out four.

We will keep you up to date on the status of Syndergaard as more news comes in.
