The Mets have activated Noah Syndergaard from the 10-day disabled list so he can start today’s game against the Washington Nationals. Meanwhile, the team optioned reliever, Tim Peterson, to make room for him.

Syndergaard, 25, was placed on the DL on July 22 after contracting hand, foot, and mouth disease at a youth camp.

The right-hander has only started 13 games this season in which he has a 6-1 record, 2.89 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and 83 strikeouts in 74 2/3 innings pitched.

Peterson, 27, has made 18 appearances (20 2/3 innings pitched) for the Mets this season, in which he has a 2-2 record, 6.53 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts.
