The Brooklyn Cyclones’ offense provided more summer fireworks Friday night. Not only did they score 13 runs on 18 hits en route to their blowout win, but Chris Suero gave Maimonides Park and the Cyclones faithful some excitement with a little league home run. Jaylen Palmer‘s two home run night led Binghamton to a victory over Bowie, while Syracuse beat St. Paul in extra innings.

Syracuse Mets (36-24) 3, St. Paul Saints (27-33) 2 In 10 Innings

BOX SCORE

Veteran catcher Hayden Senger provided the game-winning RBI double in the top of the 10th inning for Syracuse. Senger was a candidate to be flown across the pond and join the major league club as their 27th player this weekend but was dropped in favor of Brett Baty.

  • RHP José Buttó (3.86 ERA) 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 6 K
  • RHP Matt Festa (3.24 ERA) 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
  • RHP Eric Orze (4.08 ERA) 2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 5 K

Buttó was excellent in his six innings, allowing two runs and striking out six while still walking four batters. He collected 14 whiffs, ten exclusively on his changeup. Orze was impressive in his two innings on the mound, striking out five Saints, but more importantly, he held off the extra-inning base free baserunner. Orze recorded an unreal ten whiffs in only 25 pitches thrown, with his changeup being his go-to strikeout pitch.
