Tim Healey of Newsday reports that Steven Matz will be rejoining the rotation on Wednesday against the Minnesota Twins.

Matz, 28, threw a simulated game on Friday to put himself in line for the start and get himself back into a starter’s routine.

The Mets moved the southpaw to the bullpen after a rough stretch that saw his ERA rise to 4.95. In two relief appearances (two innings of work), he allowed no runs and three hits while not walking or striking out any batters.

On the year, Matz is 5-6 with a 4.89 ERA, 1.481 WHIP, and 5.39 FIP to go along with 78 strikeouts in 81 innings (18 appearances, 16 starts).
