Is Steve Cohen back?

He might be, according to a report by AM New York. A source close to the situation said that Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez’s interest in buying the Mets could re-spark Cohen’s. Why? Because it can give him an opportunity to buy the team “at a discount.”

It has already been reported that A-Rod could land the Mets at a huge discount due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to that, A-Rod and J-Lo would have to buy the Mets by committee, as their combined net worth is only $700 million.

Cohen, on the other hand, was set to buy the Mets back in December for a reported $2.6 billion.

There is a big difference between those two numbers, with lots of wiggle room in between for Cohen and the Mets to settle on a different number.

Cohen is still a minority owner of the Mets with an 8% share. He also grew up on Long Island as a Mets fan. His interest in owning the Mets did not disappear after the failed sale, so this could be his way back in.
