Buck Showalter is the new manager of the New York Mets, owner Steve Cohen tweeted on Saturday. The Mets’ manager search is over.

His deal with the Mets is for three years, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.

Showalter was considered a finalist along with Joe Espada and Matt Quatraro. His final interview was on Friday.

He’s been managing since 1992, leading the Yankees, Diamondbacks, Rangers, Orioles and now Mets. He helped the Diamondbacks to their first playoff appearance in the second year of the team’s existence. He has a lifetime managerial record of 1,551-1,517 (.506).

He’s won Manager of the Year three times in his career — 1994, 2004 and 2014.

Showalter adds another important piece to an incredibly successful offseason for the Mets, one in which they’ve signed players like Max Scherzer, Starling Marte, Eduardo Escobar and Mark Canha.

Under new general manager Billy Eppler, the Mets appear to be really going for it.
