The New York Mets came from behind on Wednesday to defeat the Atlanta Braves by a score of 6-4 at Champion Stadium in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Pitching

Matt Harvey started for the Mets and did pretty well given the circumstances. He struck out phenom, Ronald Acuna, and All-Star, Freddie Freeman in the first. In the second, After a first and third, no out jam, Harvey settled in and limited the damage to a run.

His velocity was in the mid-90s and touched 96 as detailed by Mike Puma of the New York Post. Definitely a good sight to see early on. There is a video above of Harvey discussing his season debut.

Tyler Bashlor pitched a 1-2-3 third inning. Zack Wheeler came on in the fourth and gave up a run on a wild pitch. He still managed two strikeouts though with one of the victims being Freddie Freeman.

Paul Sewald pitched two scoreless innings, striking out two along the way. Jacob Rhame gave up two runs after looking good his first two outings. He did manage a couple strikeouts though, a good sign his fastball has life. That was something we did not always see last season.

P.J. Conlon went the final two innings, striking out two guys. Conlon is vying for a spot in the bullpen where he could complement Jerry Blevins.

Offense

Brandon Nimmo homered in the third inning. Nimmo has been hitting very well this Spring and has definitely been making the most of his opportunity with Juan Lagares dealing with a hamstring.

Gavin Cecchini continued his hot hitting and got a two-run single later in the inning.

Trailing 4-3 in the ninth, the Mets came back to tie the game on a Jeff McNeil RBI single. They took the lead moments later, when Arnaldo Berrios hit a two-run homer.

Tomorrow

Jason Vargas will make his Mets debut for the second time in his career against the Miami Marlins tomorrow at First Data Field. The game will start at 1:10 p.m. and will be aired on SNY.
