The New York Mets beat the Miami Marlins in the third game of the Spring by a score of 10-3 (Box Score).
Pitching:
Robert Gsellman started for the Mets and looked strong. His sinker was in the 92-94 MPH range according to SNY radar gun and it had much more movement on it. Overall, Gsellman struck out two in two innings, and threw 21 out of 27 of his pitches for strikes.
Jeurys Familia relieved him and induced some ground balls, which is a good sign that Familia is getting movement on his pitches.
Jerry Blevins and Paul Sewald each pitched an inning but gave up a run. Blevins has a job locked up but Sewald might still be battling for a gig if Jamie Callahan, Jacob Rhame, and Hansel Robles out-pitch him.
AJ Ramos struck out three in his inning of work, making strong use of his curveball. I think he’s better suited using that pitch more often. Anthony Swarzak went an inning but gave up a home run. He was throwing the hardest among all the Mets relievers.
Rafael Montero went two scoreless innings and retired all six batters he faced. He struck out four guys including the side in the ninth inning. Definitely looked sharper than last year, granted he faced some of the lower level hitters. Still looked good though.
Cespedes hit one that isn’t landing anytime soon https://twitter.com/MLB/status/967839869551742976/video/1 …

Offense:
Todd Frazier got the offense going early with an RBI double in the first inning of Tyler Cloyd. Kevin Kaczmarski followed with an RBI single.
In the next inning, Yoenis Cespedes hit a three-run home run all the way to Miami. He looked like the guy who we are used to seeing mash.
Jose Lobaton added a home run of his own in the fifth. Amed Rosario added an RBI double in the inning and Kevin Plawecki later added an RBI single. Plawecki has not made an out yet this spring.
Tomorrow:
Noah Syndergaard is starting for the Mets against the Houston Astros and Justin Verlander. The game will be at 1:10 p.m. but it will not be on local TV.
