Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the New York Yankees and DJ LeMahieu are “finalizing an agreement” that would keep the infielder in the Bronx.

LeMahieu, 32, was always deemed as likely to return to the Yankees by many, but reports had also surfaced of the Mets, Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers showing interest in the infielder.

In fact, MMO’s own Pat Ragazzo had reported earlier this week that the Blue Jays’ interest was “very real.”

In 2020, LeMahieu hit .364/.421/.590 with 10 home runs, 27 RBI and 177 wRC+ to give himself a 2.5 fWAR.

Defensively, he registered -1 OAA at second base and 0 OAA at third base in 2020, but he is only two seasons removed from a season in which he had 13 OAA at the keystone according to Baseball Savant.
