The New York Mets have remained in contact with free agent left-handed reliever Justin Wilson, per source.

With the recent addition of lefty Aaron Loup, the Mets are not done adding to their bullpen and there is still a possibility we could see Wilson back in Queens next season.

As Andy Martino of SNY reported on Wednesday night, rival teams say the Mets have been trying to move the contracts of Jeurys Familia and Dellin Betances. New York’s bullpen is currently a crowded one, but it is right-handed heavy with Loup being the lone proven southpaw.

Before signing Loup in late January, Wilson was discussed as a backup plan to the Mets missing out on highly sought after free-agent lefty Brad Hand.

Now, with spring training on the horizon, Wilson is still without a home and a Mets reunion would make sense in order to shore up the bullpen.

Wilson spent the past two seasons with the Mets with his best year coming in 2019, where he went 4-2 with a 2.54 ERA, 3.91 FIP and 1.333 WHIP in 39 innings. During that season, lefties hit an anemic .217 off of Wilson, and righties did not hit much better batting .232.

Last season, lefties only hit a mere .115 off of Wilson, but he struggled against righties who hit .306 off of him. Overall, the 33-year-old was still solid going 2-1 with a 3.66 ERA in 19.2 innings.
