In what may have been his final game with the New York Mets at Citi Field, Jose Reyes started at second base and went 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI in a 7-1 win over the Atlanta Braves.

Reyes, 34, will be a free agent after the season and he shouldn’t be too expensive to retain if the Mets decide to bring him back to finish his career with the team he first debuted with on June 10, 2003.

Mets fans in attendance last night, showered Reyes with cheers and chants of “Jose, Jose, Jose” realizing that he could be playing his final home game in the Orange and Blue.

“A lot of stuff went through my head because I don’t know if I’m going to be here next year,” Reyes said after the game. “I’m a free agent. I want to be here. But to see them cheering my name like that, that was an unbelievable feeling. I appreciate that from the fans, for the love that they showed me.”

The franchise leader in Stolen Bases (403) and Triples (110), and the only batting champion in team history, Jose Reyes has thrilled Met fans from the moment he first stepped up to the plate during his major league debut.

Reyes finished 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored as the Mets fell to the Texas Rangers 9-7 at the Ballpark in Arlington.

Lets see if you can name the Starting Lineup and the Starting Pitcher for that notable day in Mets history on June 10, 2003.
