MLB released their awards for the month of  July and one Mets player received one in Seth Lugo, who won NL Reliever of the Month Presented by Harford.

Lugo, 29, didn’t allow a single run in the month of July while also striking out 16 batters in 12 2/3 innings (12 appearances) as compared to three hits (.075 average against him) and one walk allowed. He also recorded his first and only save of the season on July 26.

The right-hander helped lead the Mets bullpen in their best month of the season in which they had a strong 3.82 ERA as a group after having by far their worst month of the season in June with a 7.53 ERA.

In total this season, Lugo has a 2.73 ERA, 3.05 FIP, and 0.987 WHIP while averaging 11.8 K/9 as compared to 2.2 BB/9.

Of note, the Houston Astros had three players who won awards in Yuli Gurriel (AL Player of the Month), Gerrit Cole (AL Pitcher of the Month), and Yordan Alvarez (AL Rookie of the Month).

Stephen Strasburg won NL Pitcher of the Month while Keston Hiura won NL Rookie of the Month, an award that Pete Alonso has won twice this season.
