Seth Lugo continues to be a bright spot for this Mets rotation. In Sunday’s 10-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves, Lugo yet again put forth a quality start.

Lugo had a nice day in Atlanta as the Mets said goodbye to Turner Field. Seth went seven innings on the day while allowing just two runs on six hits. He walked one and sat down five batters on strikes, picking up the win.

“I gave up a few hits, but they were all good pitches and they just found holes,” Lugo said. “I just told myself not to try to do more than I was doing. They were quality pitches and I wanted to keep making those pitches.” (NY Post)

The Mets rookie has been outstanding while filling in for an injury depleted starting rotation. Since taking his place in the rotation, Lugo has pitched to a 4-2 record with a stellar 2.40 ERA and a 0.99 WHIP. Manager, Terry Collins could not have asked for anything more than what he is getting from him.

“This guy has a feel for pitching,” Collins said. “He knows how to get a ground ball to help him get out of trouble, which some pitchers need to learn it. And Seth Lugo I think has a feel for it.”

Lugo has been everything this team has needed as injuries completely have decimated what was supposed to be the team’s biggest strength in their starting rotation. As the Mets look to lock up a Wild Card spot, they will need Lugo to continue the success he has had thus far.
