According to Marc Carig of Newsday, injured New York Mets starters Steven Matz and Seth Lugo are scheduled to throw 20-30 pitches off a mound on Saturday as they look to work back to the major league club.
The Mets are also hopeful that both will be pitching in minor leagues games in the next two or three weeks.
Neither have appeared in a regular season game this year. Matz has been dealing with a strained flexor tendon while Lugo has a slight tear in his UCL.

New York Mets left-hander Steven Matz was expected to throw off the slope of the mound on Sunday, according to GM Sandy Alderson.
Matz, who is currently throwing at 75 percent effort, began a throwing program last week and has been progressing fine as per pitching coach Dan Warthen. He has been limited to throwing off flat ground from about 200 feet without any issues.
Asked about a timetable for his return, Alderson said that while Matz is making some nice progress, he still has a ways to go and won’t be an option for the Mets until at least late May at the earliest.
Matz had been shut down with what the Mets said was discomfort in his elbow, but the Long Island southpaw later revealed it was a strained flexor tendon. He has not appeared in a game this season.
