Mets pitcher Matt Harvey will have Tommy John surgery in about a week, his agent Scott Boras said, in a report by Marc Carig of Newsday.
“Logic prevailed,” Boras said of Harvey, who began the early stages of rehab before choosing surgery to repair a partially torn UCL in his right elbow.
A team official told ESPN New York. they were not aware when Harvey was going to undergo Tommy John surgery,
He is expected to be ready for 2015.
I’d bet Matt Harvey doesn’t win a Cy Young next season. 🙂

A team official told Adam Rubin of ESPN New York that the team is not yet aware of when Matt Harvey will undergo Tommy John surgery.
Harvey, 24, opted in favor of surgery to repair his torn UCL after initially attempting to rest the elbow for two weeks and then beginning a strengthening and throwing program.
The surgery will be performed by Dr. James Andrews. Typically, the average recovery time is about 12 months although there are some cases when pitchers returned in as little as nine months.
I’m surprised that this is still lingering especially after two months have already been wasted.
There was a chance that Harvey could be back as soon as early September, but he needs to get this procedure done so he can begin the healing process first.
