Pitchers Max Scherzer and Tylor Megill were reinstated from the injured list on Monday. Scherzer will start Monday’s game against the Brewers, Megill will be a bullpen addition.

In corresponding moves the Mets optioned pitchers Stephen Nogosek and Alex Claudio to Triple-A Syracuse.

Scherzer spent the minimum amount of time on the IL, after leaving his start on September 4 early with left side fatigue.

Scherzer has had two stints on the injured list this season but when healthy has been the usual ace, with an ERA of 2.26.

Megill’s lengthy rehab and injury is over. He returns to the Mets as a bullpen arm after beginning the season in the rotation.

He is reinstated from the 60-day IL after a shoulder injury. Outside of pitching out of the bullpen it’s unknown what role Megill will have with the Mets.

The Mets bullpen gets deeper with the move and will only get better on Tuesday when Drew Smith is expected to be activated by New York. They’ll have to make a roster move for that addition as well.
