The 65-game ban of Ryan Braun was negotiated by him, MLBPA and MLB. Major League Baseball was looking for a suspension beyond 2013, says ESPN’s T.J. Quinn, however Braun was able to get it reduced to the remainder of the current season.
Sources tell OTL MLB confronted Braun with volumes of evidence provided by Tony Bosch, including texts.

If plan for other players is to attack Bosch’s credibility, Braun just made that very difficult.

Braun issued an official apology saying:
“As I have acknowledged in the past, I am not perfect. I realize now that I have made some mistakes. I am willing to accept the consequences of those actions. This situation has taken a toll on me and my entire family, and it has been a distraction to my teammates and the Brewers organization. I am very grateful for the support I have received from players, ownership and the fans in Milwaukee and around the country. Finally, I wish to apologize to anyone I may have disappointed – all of the baseball fans especially those in Milwaukee, the great Brewers organization, and my teammates. I am glad to have this matter behind me once and for all, and I cannot wait to get back to the game I love.”

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun has been suspended without pay for rest of the season.
The announcement from commissioner Bud Selig said the suspension was for violations of the basic agreement and its joint drug prevention and treatment program and is effective immediately.
Braun is the first chip to fall in baseball’s historic Biogenesis probe, writes the Daily News, and his ban is likely to be seen as vindication for the commissioner’s office, which tried unsuccessfully to suspend the left fielder in 2012 after a urine sample he submitted during a playoff run showed radically elevated levels of testosterone.
