According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Ruben Amaro Jr. will become the New York Mets first base and outfield coach.

Amaro has held a similar role with the Boston Red Sox the past two seasons. Earlier today, it was reported that Tom Goodwin was leaving the Mets to take the first base and outfield coach position with the Red Sox.

Amaro, 52, served as the general manager for the Philadelphia Phillies from 2009 until 2015 after spending ten years as their assistant GM.

The former outfielder played in eight major league seasons before retiring following the 1998 season.
