Endy_ChavezThe Kansas City Royals have signed former Met outfielder Endy Chavez to a one-year contract, according to Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Terms of the deal have not yet been reported.

Chavez, 34, can play all three outfield spots and is coming off a down year in which he hit just .203/.236/.278 with two homers, 12 RBI, six doubles and three steals in 158 at-bats.

In 2011, Chavez hit .301 with five home runs and ten steals in 256 at-bats, serving in a platoon role, coming off the bench and being used as a defensive replacement. He’ll serve a similar role with Royals.
