Tough to find many positives in the Mets 17-5 loss to the Cubs on Wednesday night (or in the entire season for that matter) but Amed Rosario was one of them.

The 21-year-old shortstop went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and stole his fifth base in the major leagues.

Dominic Smith showed of more of his power with a two-run shot and fellow rookie Travis Taijeron was on base threes times as the rookies combined for a large chunk of the Mets offense.

In 35 major league games, Rosario is slashing .273/.302/.438 with two doubles, three triples and four home runs in 126 plate appearances for the Mets. His wRC+ is now at 95 which is above the league average for shortstop (89 wRC+) this year.

Rosario has been an asset in the field with three defensive runs saved at short in 279.2 innings. He’s also helped the team on the bases as an above average baserunner including five stolen bases after stealing a career-high 19 in Triple-A this season.

The injury to his index finger that kept him out of the lineup seems like a non-issue with him going 6 for 12 since returning to the lineup on Sunday.
