August 28, 2020 was a hell of a day for Mets fans as they found out Steve Cohen is in negotiations to buy the team and they swept the Yankees in the Bronx.

Amed Rosario gave the Mets a 4-3 win over the Yankees in the night cap with a two-run pinch hit homer.

Pitching

Peterson missed a chunk of time due to left shoulder fatigue and was making his first appearance since August 13. The former first round pick struggled with his control the entire outing.

The lefty retired the first six batters he faced before running into trouble in the third inning. He walked three in the third inning, including Gary Sanchez with the bases loaded to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead.

Peterson settled down to throw a scoreless fourth inning, here’s his final line:

4 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 70 pitches/37 strikes

Jeurys Familia worked in and out of trouble in the fifth inning, he allowed no ones despite issuing two walks and allowing a hit.

Brad Brach followed with a perfect sixth inning as he lowered his ERA to 1.42 for the season.

The win went to Jared Hughes after he worked a scoreless seventh inning with two strikeouts.

Offense

Dominic Smith gave the Mets a first inning lead with an RBI single that scored Michael Conforto.

Brandon Nimmo brought to the score to 3-2 in the fifth inning with an RBI single scoring Luis Guillorme.

Jeff McNeil led off the bottom of the seventh (and final in a doubleheader) inning against Aroldis Chapman. The struggling Amed Rosario hit a two-run pinch hit homer to give the Mets a walk-off win against the Yankees and sweep the doubleheader.

Catcher Ali Sanchez picked up his first big league hit with a single in the third inning.

Smith had two hits in the game including his 11th double of the season.
