Mets prospect Ronny Mauricio continued his impressive play in Dominican Winter League ball on Sunday night when he collected two extra base hits in the Tigres del Licey’s 4-2 win.

After grounding out in his first at-bat, Mauricio launched a long home run to left field (hitting right-handed) to begin the third inning. Batting right-handed again in the fifth, Mauricio hit a fly ball double to right field. Mauricio struck out in his final at-bat of the game.

As you can see, the 20-year-old continues to rack up base hits and extra base hits, but has not walked yet in 10 games. The lack of walks are certainly something to monitor going forward for a top prospect that had just a .296 OBP in the 2021 regular season.

According to Winterball Data, Mauricio is the first rookie for the Tigres del Licey to homer from both sides of the plate in a season since Henry Mateo in the 2001-2002 season.

The switch-hitting Mauricio had 14 extra base hits in 117 at-bats (.487 SLG) against left-handed pitching in 2021.
