For the third straight game, the Mets middle infield consists of Andres Gimenez at shortstop and Luis Guillorme at second base. Mets manager Luis Rojas told reporters that Amed Rosario is available off the bench today, but is still suffering ill effects from a stomach bug.

Gimenez has been fantastic defensively at shortstop and has held his own at the plate in 2020, prompting beat reporters to ask whether Rosario slides back into his starting role when 100%.

Rojas was clear with his answer, “Amed Rosario is our shortstop.”

The 21-year-old Gimenez is hitting .283/.313/.391 with two triples and four stolen bases in 18 games.

On the flip side, Rosario is hitting just .207/.207/.310 through his first 58 plate appearances of the season.
