Yesterday, Adam Rubin of ESPN New York spoke to a major league source who told him that the Mets have expressed interest in Colorado Rockies outfielder/second baseman Eric Young Jr.

The source speculated that “sending Justin Turner to Colorado might get the potential deal done”.

However, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports followed that up and later reported that Justin Turner’s name never came up in any conversations with the Rockies.

Additionally, Andy Martino of the Daily News spoke to a source who told him that while the key player remains Jon Niese, the Rockies and Mets are not close to any deal.

Last season Eric Young Jr. batted .247 with no homers and 27 steals in 198 at-bats. In parts of three seasons, the New Jersey native has posted a .619 OPS in 427 at-bats in 152 games played.
