Dominican Winter League
Mets veteran second baseman Robinson Canó was back in action on Wednesday in the Dominican Republic. It was the first game action of any kind for Canó in 2021 following a season-long steroid suspension that was handed down in November of 2020.
Canó, 39, went 1-for-4 with a single as the designated hitter for the Estrellas Orientales. The expectation of Estrellas Orientales manager Fernando Tatis is that going forward Canó will play second and third base.

Canó is under contract with the Mets for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
In the same game, Mets prospect Ronny Mauricio drove in the only one for the Tigres del Licey in their 3-1 loss to Cano’s Estrellas Orientales. Mauricio was 1-for-4 on the night, and he is now slashing .341/.341/.537 through 12 games.
Arizona Fall League
The Salt River Rafters dropped to 7-16 after their 6-1 loss to the Scottsdale Scorpions. Brett Baty and Colin Holderman were the only two Mets prospects to participate in the game.
- 3B Brett Baty 1-for-4, .250/.345/.375
Baty has slowed down after a scorching hot start in the AFL, certainly possible that the workload after a lost 2020 season is playing a role in the recent struggles.
- RHP Colin Holderman 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, BB, 2 K, 9.82 ERA
The hard throwing right-handed now has three scoreless outings in a row.
