Jose Reyes spoke with Howie Kussoy of the New York Post before last night’s game and spoke about the idea of returning in 2019 (much to the anger of pretty much every Mets fan at this point).

“Of course I’d want to come back/ My body feels good. I feel healthy. We’ll see if there’s an opportunity.”

That being said, he is not looking that far into the future with that right now and knows that his days could be numbered with the club considering the way he has played this season.

“I just want to enjoy each day and then we’ll see what happens. I’m just trying to enjoy my time here because you never know if it’s going to be here last year or not. I don’t want to think about what the future holds. I just want to finish the season strong and see what happens.”

Reyes, 35, is having by far the worst year of his career in 2018 as he is hitting .186/.257/.281 with three home runs and 10 RBI to give him a way below average 50 wRC+.

On the defensive end, he’s been pretty bad as well combining for -4 DRS between his time at second base, shortstop, and the hot corner. The only position of the three that he graded out positively at was the first one with two, but that is in a small sample size of 50 2/3 innings. In 2017, he had -5 DRS there in 207 1/3 innings.
