According to Mike Puma of the New York Post and Jon Heyman of the MLB Network, the Reds are showing interest in trading for former Mets shortstop Amed Rosario.

The Reds had interest in free agent infielders Freddy Galvis and Andrelton Simmons before they recently signed, with the Orioles and Twins respectively. They’ve also talked with free agent infielder Didi Gregorius, but his asking price is reportedly too high.

Rosario, 25, was traded by the Mets along with INF Andres Gimenez, RHP Josh Wolf, and OF Isaiah Greene to the Indians for superstar SS Francisco Lindor and RHP Carlos Carrasco.

The former top prospect in baseball has struggled to find consistency in the big leagues, he’s been a .268/.302/.403 hitter in 403 major league games.

Rosario is one of the faster players in baseball (92% percentile sprint speed in 2020) and showed significant improvement defensive at shortstop in 2020.
