There are still a lot of rumors circulating as to who is still a candidate for the New York Mets manager job. While you would expect to a narrowing down of the field of candidates, we have heard more and more names arise. The other day it was Brewers Bench Coach Pat Murphy. Now, Andy Martino of SNY reports Syracuse Mets manager Tony DeFrancesco interviewed for the Major League position.

While the names of other candidates are emerging, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports the Mets have narrowed down the field to four candidates: Carlos Beltran, Tim Bogar, Eduardo Perez, and Derek Shelton.

Notably, Heyman said there was “no more bombshells.” This could very well be interpreted to mean if new names surface between now and the time the Mets announce their new manager, it is only reporting of someone who was once considered for the position.

With Bogar still a candidate for the position, and the Mets conducting another round of interviews, we should not expect to learn the name of the Mets new manager until after the World Series, which could end tonight. If the Mets are waiting to hire Bogar, the announcement could come quickly. If not, who knows how long it will take before the Mets hire someone to replace Mickey Callaway.
