Is it time for the Dark Knight’s return to the Mets? It very well could be.

According to WFAN’s Boomer Esiason, Matt Harvey has reached out to the Mets about coming back. He also said that the Mets would consider.

Well… it does make sense. With Noah Syndergaard out for any 2020 baseball that happens and possibly for some 2021 games as well due to Tommy John surgery, the Mets need an arm. The timing may be right for Harvey’s return to the Mets.

Harvey is eager to get back on the mound. It recently came out that he is interested in playing in the KBO and that there was mutual interest from at least one team. Back in February, he worked out with the Blue Jays but did not receive an offer. Then in March, he posted a video of him pitching a bullpen session for all to see.

Harvey was released by the Angels last July after posting a 7.09 ERA in 59 2/3 innings. And I know, those aren’t the kind of numbers we want in our rotation. But, is it time for redemption? Harvey’s arm was a big help to the Mets for a number of seasons (yes, all pre-thoracic outlet syndrome), and no one can deny that.

There is little risk to the Mets bringing Harvey back. He is an extra arm, which is what the Mets could use with Syndergaard out.
