Per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Mets will option Ronny Mauricio to Triple-A Syracuse as the corresponding move to make room for OF Tommy Pham. While nothing is official yet, Mauricio was the odd man out. In just four at-bats in his stint with the team, he had one hit, albeit a massive one, a walk-off hit against the Diamondbacks on April 7.
Mauricio was originally recalled when the Mets placed Juan Soto on the injured list with a calf strain. A platoon of Tyrone Taylor, Jared Young, Brett Baty and Carson Benge have patrolled the outfield with Soto down. Pham’s addition solidifies the outfield a bit more and adds another right-handed bat to the lineup.

According to Will Sammon of the Athletic, the New York Mets are calling up veteran outfielder Tommy Pham. Pham was signed to a minor-league deal back on Opening Day.
Pham has been on assignment with Single-A St. Lucie. Across five games he’s 2-for-12 (.167 average) with three strikeouts and three walks. Pham, notably, had a hit and run scored against Toronto Blue Jays’ pitcher Trey Yesavage who was on rehab for Toronto.
Pham is a 12-year MLB veteran. He owns a career .766 OPS and has always posted above average walk rates (11.2% compared to a 8.3% league average).
Pham notably played for the Mets in 2023 where he posted an extremely solid .820 OPS. He was moved at the trade deadline in exchange for infielder prospect Jeremy Rodriguez. Rodriguez, 19, is on the injured list to begin 2026. He had a .540 OPS across 420 at-bats for Single-A St. Lucie.
In 2025, he slashed .245/.330/.370 (.700 OPS) for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played in 120 games spanning 392 at-bats. Pham spent 115 of the 117 games played in the field in left.
Pham adds to a crowded Mets outfield. A corresponding move has yet to be announced.
