Though Josh Harrison was listed as one of the four “finalists” in the Mets pursuit for an infielder, that is no longer the case.

According to Matt Ehalt of The Record and NorthJersey.com, New York is not currently pursuing a deal for the infielder. This validates the notion that the team is more likely to acquire an external player via free agency.

Harrison, 30, clubbed 16 homers and drove in 47 RBI in 542 plate appearances last year. He also hit to a .272/.339/.432 clip with a 104 wRC+ and .332 wOBA.

The versatile veteran spent time at second and third base as well as all three outfield positions in 2017. However, he spent the most time at the keystone, logging six defensive runs saved (DRS) and a 0.3 UZR in 653.1 innings.

At the hot corner, he spent 341.2 innings and registered two DRS and a 0.9 UZR.
