The Mets have reportedly checked in on lefty reliever Tim Hill, Tim Healey of Newsday reported.

Hill appeared in 35 games for the Yankees in 2024, posting a 2.05 ERA and a 69% ground-ball rate after struggling with the White Sox and subsequently being designated for assignment. Hill also threw well in the postseason, pitching to a 1.08 ERA in 10 October games.

His most memorable moment of the postseason, however, was when Nestor Cortes was chosen over him to come in relief during Game 1 of the World Series. Cortes came in to face the triumvirate of Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman. Freeman took Cortes deep for a walk-off grand slam that set the tone for the series.

The Mets are looking to replace Brooks Raley and add a second lefty to go along with Danny Young in the bullpen. Raley thrived as a Met as a lefty out of the pen, but had an injury-shortened 2024, pitching only eight games.

Hill, who spent two years in Kansas City and four as a Padre before joining Chicago last year, will turn 35 before the start of the regular season.
