Bob Klapisch of The Record spoke to a source familiar with the negotiations between the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers and was told that a deal that would send Jonathan Lucroy to the Mets is “not happening.”
On Sunday, the Daily News reported that the Brewers rejected a straight-up Travis d’Arnaud for Jonathan Lucroy trade offer from the Mets.

Despite being previously projected to have a quiet trade deadline, the Mets have been linked to Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy, Kristie Ackert of the Daily News reports.
Lucroy is in the midst of an All Star campaign, slashing .302/.362/.494 while seeing time both at catcher and first base. The 30 year old veteran also has 13 home runs, well on pace to surpass his career best 18 round trippers.
Given his production and consistency, it can only be expected that he will command a significant return if the Brewers decide to trade him.
According to Ackert, the Brewers already rejected a straight up swap of Travis d’Arnaud for Lucroy and are weighing offers from other teams.
That said, there does seem to be traction between both sides, and the Brewers were among one of several teams scouting the Mets’ minor league talent last week.
Considering that the Mets are willing to part with a major piece in d’Arnaud, perhaps a deal could be feasible. With feelings mounting to improve on last season’s NL Championship, the Mets might have to make a significant move, even if it further drains the farm system.
