Thor has a home for the 2023 season. ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports that the former Mets All-Star pitcher has agreed to a deal with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports that the deal is for one year and $13 million with incentives.

The 2022 season was Syndergaard’s first full season since 2019 after undergoing Tommy John surgery. Syndergaard started the year with the Angels before being traded to the Phillies, where he made 10 appearances for the Phillies down the stretch and eventually started Game 5 of the World Series against the Astros.

Overall, Sydnergaard finished 2022 with a 3.94 ERA in 25 games. The 30-year-old stuck out just 95 hitters in 131.1 innings last season, but will be joining an organization well known for getting the most out of their veteran pitchers.

Just last year, the Dodgers got career years out of Tyler Anderson, Andrew Heaney, and Evan Phillips, and had the lowest team ERA in baseball. In fact, Heyman reports that Syndergaard actually turned down multiyear offers elsewhere to come to Los Angeles.

The Dodgers are expected to compete with the Padres for an NL West title, and Syndergaard will likely join Tony Gonsolin, Clayton Kershaw, Julio Urias, and Dustin May in the rotation next season.
