LaVelle E. Neal of the Star-Tribune Reports that the designated hitter position will be for the AL-only for the 2021 as of now. According to Neal, the the players union and MLB would only be able to continue the universal DH into the 2021 season through bargaining.

Before the 2020 season the designated hitter position in the batting lineup only existed in the AL before being brought to the NL through some shortened season experiments. Out of the other changes made, which included a three batter minimum for pitchers as well as an extra inning rule, the universal DH was thought by many to be a more permanent fixture going into 2021.

Pete Alonso was used as the Mets’ DH the most in 2020 with 17 starts and Robinson Cano was second with 13. J.D. Davis was the third Mets player double figures with 12 starts as the DH this past season.
