Today marks the 17th anniversary of the tragic events of September 11, 2001. All of us at Metsmerized Online remember with sadness those we lost that day, including all the heroic first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.
That infamous attack changed our country forever, but in the chaotic aftermath we all bonded and came together as a nation like never before and the American spirit persevered.
Every year on this day, I’m always reminded of a sign they posted at the VA hospital shortly after the attack. It read:
“Freedom and liberty can mean a million different things to a million different people, but there is one common truth that our differences cannot dissuade. Freedom is as fragile or as strong as the will of those who are willing to defend it.”
