Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reports that the Boston Red Sox have acquired right-hander Nathan Eovaldi from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for minor-league left-hander Jalen Beeks.

Eovaldi, 28, made returned from Tommy John Surgery this year for Tampa Bay and has made ten starts to date. In that span, he has pitched 57 innings while sporting a 4.26 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts.

Meanwhile, in exchange for him, the Rays acquired 25-year old Beeks who has made two appearances (one start) for the Red Sox this season, in which he allowed nine runs in 6 1/3 innings.

Beeks, though, is rated the teams 15th best prospect by MLB Pipeline and has a 2.89 ERA this year in 16 starts at Triple-A Pawtucket.

Eovaldi was set to start for the Rays today, but has been scratched and replaced with Ryne Stanek.
