The New York Mets (31-41) were swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers (48-26), dropping game four of the series by a 6-3 final.
Pitching
Steven Matz started for the Mets and went six innings. He gave up three runs on two home runs. The first was by Justin Turner and two batters later, Enrique Hernandez hit a two-run homer. Those were the last runs he would allow.
His final line: 6 IP, 3 H, 3 ER, 5 BB, 8 K
Paul Sewald came in and gave up a home run to Joc Pederson. He allowed the next two to reach and retired Turner.
Jerry Blevins came in and the wheels came off the game. He walked three in a row, including a relief pitcher, to force in two runs. He could not finish the inning.
Offense
For the second day in a row, Curtis Granderson led off the game with a home run. He overtook Jose Reyes for the franchise lead in home runs.
Travis d’Arnaud homered in the fourth inning and in the sixth inning, Lucas Duda drove home Jay Bruce with a two-out RBI double.
The offense had chances but did not really produce. They went 1 for 8 with RISP and had scoring chances in the second, fifth, seventh, and eighth.
Michael Conforto popped up with the bases loaded and two out as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning.
Quick Take
This team honestly looks out of it. Not in terms of the standings but how they look in the dugout. Terry looked annoyed and upset in the seventh inning and I cannot blame him. In the past I’ve given Terry credit for being a player’s manager who always has teams fighting and competing for him. I cannot say the same from the past few days.
Tomorrow
Seth Lugo will take the ball to face the Giants and their lefty, Ty Blach. Game will be at 10:10.
