The Mets were swept out of Chicago on Thursday with a 14-6 loss to the Cubs. The Mets have been eliminated from postseason contention.

Pitching

Seth Lugo only managed three innings plus and they were not particularly pretty. His first inning was scoreless but the next two were not. He worked into the fourth and did not record an out in the inning.

Final line on him: 3 IP, 9 H, 8 R (7 ER), BB, 4 K.

Josh Smoker came in and ate up two innings and also recorded three strikeouts in that time, but allowed one run and an inherited run.

Jerry Blevins and Paul Sewald  combined for an ugly inning of work, allowing five runs with two of them being earned.

On the bright side, Chris Flexen had another good stint from the bullpen and Jeurys Familia had one of his best outings since returning from the DL, each had a scoreless inning.

Offense

Amed Rosario was 1 for 3 with a stolen base though he left the game early with a sore hip flexor.

Travis d’Arnaud blasted his 12th homer of the season before leaving with a twisted knee.

Tomas Nido had a RBI single in the ninth, his first major league hit and run batted in.

Dominic Smith homered again, his fourth of the month.

Brandon Nimmo got two hits including a double and knocked in a run.

Jose Reyes was on base twice and stole his 509th career base, he now leads all active players in steals.
