According to Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse, the Rangers have reached an agreement with free agent RHP Brandon Webb.

Webb was reportedly one of the Mets four options along with Jeff Francis, Freddy Garcia and Chris Young, however despite their interest, no offers have been tendered and they have no plans on making ANY offers until some time in January. The hope is that asking prices will come down.

That said, in a supply and demand market and in a very sparse pitching market I would think prices would go up as availability dwindles especially with over a dozen teams all looking for starting pitching. But I’m just a blogger.

Webb has pitched only four innings for the Diamondbacks since 2008 due to a shoulder injury, but he is expected to be healthy and ready to go.

Webb won the Cy Young award for the Diamondbacks in 2006, when he went 16-8 for Arizona with a 3.10 ERA and 1.13 WHIP while striking out 178 in 235 innings of work, he also finished second in both 2007 and 2008. He has a career 3.27 ERA and 1.24 WHIP.

When healthy, Webb is a bonafide ace.

I hope you all had a nice holiday!
