Rafael Montero pitched two scoreless innings (7th & 8th inning) allowing only one hit last night for the Leones del Escogido in their 6-1 victory. He allowed just the one baserunner who was erased on a double play ball hit by former Met Jordany Valdespin.

Montero has now thrown six innings (five during playoffs) for the Leones this winter allowing only one run, which was produced by a solo homerun in his first Dominican League appearance.

Catcher Xorge Carrillo continued his scorching hot postseason with the Aguilas de Mexicali in their 10-1 victory last night that gives them a 2-0 lead in the second round best-of-7 series. He went 2 for 3 with a double, walk, RBI, and two runs scored in the Aguilas win. Carrillo is now batting .474 with four doubles and three RBI in the playoffs.

Johnny Monell was 1 for 3 with a walk and stolen base last night helping the Criollos de Caguas (3-3) beat the Cangrejeros de Santurce (2-4) by a score of 3-0. He is now hitting .389 in six Puerto Rican League playoff games while splitting time at catcher with former Met Juan Centeno 

The Tigres del Licey moved to 12-1 in the 18-game round robin Dominican League playoffs after beating the Toros del Este 6-1 last night. Jenrry Mejia picked up his second hold of the postseason for the Tigres despite allowing one run on one hit and striking out two batters in two thirds of an inning. He now has a 9.00 ERA during the postseason after finishing the regular season with a 4.02 ERA and 1.28 WHIP.

Lefty reliever Dario Alvarez pitched a scoreless inning for the Toros allowing a double but striking out the other three batters he faced. In the postseason he has pitched 2.1 scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

The Toros have filed a formal complaint against the Mets for pulling Alejandro De Aza from winter league play with the Caribbean Baseball Confederation, Lidom, and Major League Baseball.
