Rafael Montero has been named the Pitcher of the Week for the Pacific Coast League. Montero made two road starts, not allowing a run in 11.2 innings on six hits with five walks and 13 strikeouts. For the week Montero posted a 0.94 WHIP and .154 batting average against.

Montero, 25, shutout the River Cats over 5.2 innings with six strikeouts on May 9. In his second start of the week, he tossed 6.0 shutout innings with two hits and seven strikeouts, while opposing the No. 5 ranked MLB Prospect Julio Urias and the Oklahoma City Dodgers.

The right-hander has appeared in parts of three seasons with the Mets, including a brief two-game stint this year. He has a 4.45 ERA in 17 career big league appearances, including nine starts.

Montero was named the MetsMinors.net Pitcher of the Week this morning.
