According to a new report on WFAN and other sources, knuckleballer R.A. Dickey is expected to get called up from Buffalo and make his first start for the Mets on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals.

Earlier today, SNY’s Kevin Burkhardt revealed that a locker in the Mets clubhouse in Atlanta already had Dickey’s name on it, suggesting an impending roster move.

In his last start, R.A. Dickey tossed eight innings without giving up an earned run improving to 4-1 with a 2.23 ERA.

After reporting that Jon Niese has a mild hamstring strain, the Mets announced that Hisanori Takahashi will start Friday against the New York Yankees.

In other Mets news, David Lennon of Newsday tweeted the following quote from Jeff Wilpon after he emerged from a closed door meeting with Jerry Manuel, Omar Minaya and others.

“If I felt good about what was going on, I wouldn’t be here right now.” Also said he didn’t come to fire anyone.

Minutes later, Jerry Manuel came out and told reporters,

“I’ve never been concerned about my job. Maybe I should be.”

Lot’s going on today.
