The clock starts now for teams to extend qualifying offers to players.

The Mets have until 5 p.m. Sunday to extend a qualifying offer to Michael Conforto and Noah Syndergaard. The one-year contract is worth the average of the top 125 salaries, $18.4 million.

To be eligible for the qualifying offer the player must have spent the entire 2021 season with his team and never received a qualifying offer before. The Mets signed Marcus Stroman to a qualifying offer for the 2021 season, making him ineligible to receive one again.

Syndergaard has stated he would be gracious to receive the qualifying offer from the Mets and return to Queens. Conforto is expected to test free agency with Scott Boras as his agent.

Last season six players received qualifying offers, Stroman and Kevin Gausman were the only ones to accept. Other players eligible to receive one this year include Carlos Correa, Freddie Freeman, Robbie Ray, Marcus Semien, and Carlos Rodon.
