After being one of the 25 teams to attend Corey Kluber‘s 30 pitch showcase on January 13th, the Mets seem to be looking in another direction to address their starting pitching.

According to Mike Puma of the New York Post, the Mets are “unlikely to further pursue” the two-time AL Cy Young winner. After 5 straight seasons of 200+ innings pitched, the 34-year-old is coming off back-to-back seasons where he threw a total of 36.2 innings thanks to a fractured right arm and oblique strain in 2019, and a Grade 2 right shoulder strain this past season.

Despite those injuries, Kluber has a strong market for his services according to multiple reports, and is expected to sign within the next couple of days. The Alabama native has told teams that he wants to sign a 1-year deal to prove himself, per Brendan Kuty of NJ.com.
