cesar puello

According to a report by Adam Rubin, when the Mets placed Cesar Puello on waivers, which he cleared and was eventually demoted to Triple-A Las Vegas, technically none of it ever happened.

Apparently, Puello told the team he was injured and general manager Sandy Alderson had to rescind the demotion after an MRI on Monday revealed a “stress reaction” in his back — which is a precursor to a stress fracture.

So now the Mets have placed Puello on the 15-day major league disabled list and he must remain on the 40-man roster and accrue major league service time while he’s on the DL.

To make room for Puello, Josh Edgin has been transferred to the 60-day DL.

April 3

Cesar Puello has cleared waivers and is now again the property of the Mets. He will be outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas to begin the season.

The Mets placed Puello on waivers on Wednesday because he was out of options and was not going to make the opening day roster.

Puello, 24, hit .252 with seven homers and 37 RBIs in 318 at-bats for Triple-A Las Vegas in 2014.
