CBS Sports MLB Insider, Jon Heyman, tweeted yesterday that Ivan Rodriguez is working out to get ready for the new season, and he believes that the Mets could be interested in Pudge’s services.

The Mets have been lacking a veteran catcher for the past several years (since Paul Lo Duca, or Brian Schneider).  At the right price, I could see the Mets taking a look at Rodriguez.

Ivan Rodriguez has been below-average when it comes to his offensive play, but he still could be a good defensive player, and he could also bring that veteran presence to the Mets clubhouse that we need now that Jose Reyes is gone.

Rodriguez could also be used as a mentor for Josh Thole.  He could work with him and teach him to become a better catcher for the future.

To me, there seems to be more pros to signing Pudge Rodriguez than cons.  What do you think?
