The New York Mets’ run of games against National League Wild Card contenders persisted into this week as they took two out of three from the Miami Marlins before getting swept in a four-game set at the hands of the Philadelphia Phillies. Along the way, Brandon Nimmo kept up his torrid play in September while Grant Hartwig strung together a couple of quality outings as he looks to leave a good impression heading into 2024.

HITTER OF THE WEEK

Brandon Nimmo had somewhat of a quiet start to his week, going 1-for-5 on Monday against the Marlins before picking up the pace soon after. On Tuesday, he went 3-for-5 with a clutch two-run double off Tanner Scott in the ninth inning that tied the game at 3-3. He closed out the series in Miami with a 3-for-4 performance on Wednesday with a double and a solo home run in the ninth off Johnny Cueto.

Nimmo kept the ball rolling in Philadelphia on Thursday night with a 1-for-4 showing before going 1-for-3 with a pair of walks on Friday. He did not appear in the final game of the series on Sunday, but he capped off his week with a two-run triple in the seventh inning on Saturday.

Nimmo finished the week with a .385/.467/.692 slash line to go with one home run and six RBIs.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

With a majority of the Mets’ bullpen spots up in the air for next season, Grant Hartwig kept his name firmly in the conversation with a bounce back week.

Hartwig’s first appearance came on Monday against the Marlins where he threw a shutout inning in the seventh with a strikeout. He followed that up with another scoreless outing on Thursday against the Phillies, though this time he went 2 1/3 innings while striking out Bryce Harper, Alec Bohm and Johan Rojas. His final performance was on Sunday night as he gave up one earned run over 1 1/3 innings with two strikeouts.

In total, Hartwig threw 4 2/3 innings while allowing just one run with six strikeouts.
